The Thrive Approach
At Hugh Joicey C of E First School, we are embracing the Thrive Approach.
The Thrive Approach website tells us that recent advances in neuroscience, attachment theory and child development have given us more answers to what it takes to develop healthy, happy, confident learners, ready to learn. The Thrive Approach draws insights from these. It is a way of working which supports the social and emotional development of the children in our care. The Thrive Approach also gives practitioners the tools to give targeted support to learners who mat have struggled with different life events, to help them to re-engage with life and learning.
At Hugh Joicey C of E First School:
We use the PLACE acronym as a guide to support our children. People in school are Playful, Loving, Accepting, Curious and Empathetic. We aim for school to be a safe and nurturing environment, where children grow and learn about themselves, others and wider society.
Staff plan activities, lessons, events and interventions as needed to help children to grow. We use art, craft, music, movement, discussion, games, time to talk, and other opportunities to achieve this.
